What is mastic?

Mastic is the name given to the aromatic natural resin extracted from the trunk of the mastic tree (Pistacia lentiscus var. chia), which is traditionally cultivated in South Chios and is produced in "drops" or "tears". The so-called "tears" are whitish-yellow in color and are translucent at first, while as they age they acquire a more yellowish and opaque color.

What are the uses of mastic?

Chios mastic has been recognized as a natural medicine as it has many properties that contribute to the proper functioning of the body. At the same time, it is used in cooking and confectionery, to flavor creams, royal icing and various sweets. It is also used to prepare a delicious digestive liqueur. Furthermore, mastic oil is also used in furniture making and in the manufacture of musical instruments.

Is natural mastic organic or even friendly to those following a vegan diet?

How can I order?

Website : You place your order at www.kottatis.gr, opening the page of the product you are interested in and clicking the “Add to cart” button. By then following the instructions that will appear step by step, you will easily complete your order, which will either be sent to the address of your choice or will be waiting for you to pick it up at one of our stores. (28 Aegean Avenue, Chios and Pyrgi, Chios).

Alternatively, you can send us the codes that interest you by email to info@kottatis.gr or on Facebook Messenger. The Customer Service Department will contact you to register your details and preferences (payment method, delivery method, etc.) (Monday to Friday from 09:00 to 17:00 and Saturday from 09:00 to 14:00).

By phone : Note the product codes of interest and call us at +3022710 83355. Our call center team will answer any questions you may have and help you choose the product or products that best suit your needs (Monday to Friday from 09:00 to 19:00 and Saturday from 09:00 to 15:00).

How long will it take to receive my order?

If your order is for delivery in Greece, delivery days are 1 to 3 days. If your order is for delivery abroad, it depends on the volume of products and the country of delivery.

Can I request my product(s) in gift wrapping?

Accepted Answer

During checkout, you can add in the comments of your order that the order is for gift wrapping or part of the order (e.g. 2 products) and we will send you -free of charge- a paper bag with the Kottatis brand name, a change card and a ribbon to prepare your gift. The reason we never send gifts pre-wrapped is a) so that you can see the product you ordered up close and b) because there is a risk of damage to the packaging during transport by the courier company.
